Dining room servers can make holiday entertaining easy and elegant.

    by Jennifer Sellers

The holiday season is usually one of food, family and friends. That means lots of entertaining. Whether you have annual gatherings or are looking to start a new tradition, you'll find that a dining room server is a functional piece of furniture that will serve you well throughout the holidays—and all through the year.

"Dining room servers are one of the most versatile pieces of furniture in the home; they show their true value during the holidays," says Bryan Edwards, aspenhome vice president of sales. "Set them up to serve brunches, dinners, or refreshments and desserts to save room on the dining table. They make hosting much easier."

Here are a few ways you can use dining room servers to your advantage this season:

    Chanukah

If table space in your dining room is limited, consider placing your menorah on a complementary piece, like a server. Some pieces, like the Lincoln Park server by aspenhome, are equipped with a heat resistant granite tops and a pullout storage area with adjustable shelf—convenient features for a large Chanukah dinner.

    Christmas

Is brunch a Christmas morning tradition in your family? If so, you'll find a dining room server to be particularly handy for this annual event. A server allows you a handy spot to keep coffee hot and fresh with AC outlets on the side. It also provides plenty of top space for food and beverages, and drawers for silverware and other supplies.

    Kwanzaa

If you're looking for extra space in your dining room to display fruit, vegetables and African art for the annual Kwanzaa feast, Karamu, a server will offer you plenty of display space above and storage space below. When you're not dining, it still provides space for decorative touches like the Kinara candles.

    New Year's Eve and Day

This end of the year celebration is all about the drinks. A dining room server will offer you a roomy location to set out your cocktails, champagne and munchies. After your New Year's Eve party is over, you can clear out the beverage supplies to make room for a New Year's Day buffet.
