Accent Tables—The Finishing Touches

When selecting an accent table for your room, consider the role the table’s finish plays in its overall look. Consider any of these options.

  • A table in a different style or color than the majority of your furniture can add punch to your décor.
  • Or, choose a finish that picks up a color in your room’s existing décor.
  • Popular finishes include espresso as well as high-gloss painted finishes.

  • Fun, Funky, Functional Tables

Accent tables put an accent on both fun and function in your home.

From fun to function, accent tables can do it all. Need more dining space for a party? Want a game area? Want to spice up your decor? Accent tables can fill any and all of these functions. They are versatile pieces essential to any living area.

    Tray Tables

The pullout tray table is an end table but also a tray table. Folded underneath are two trays nestled in a racking system, according to Greg Waylock, president of Bailey Street. So if you need more table surface for a party, just pull the tray tables out and you’re ready to party. “I actually have them in my house,” Waylock says. “I tend to have my dinners in front of the TV. They make great TV trays.”

    Game Tables

Game tables are becoming increasingly popular as families spend more time together at home. A flip of the table’s center gives you either a checkers or a backgammon board. When the game table is covered, it can serve as a standard accent table.

    Foldout Tables

A hall table where the top folds out and lies flat can be used as an extra game table or an additional serving table. “It’s a good way to conserve space,” says Waylock.

    Nesting Tables

Nesting tables also meet the need for functionality while conserving space. “They can be pulled apart and used separately around the room and then put back together in one unit,” says Rick Ronza, sales manager with Carolina Accents.
