Create the Perfect Chanukah Table
A few simple décor elements can make your Chanukah dinner a memorable experience.
- by Phyllis Harbinger
If you want your Chanukah party to be special, have no fear! You can display a brilliant dinner table that will wow your guests. Here’s a simple and easy plan for creating a tabletop masterpiece within minutes:
Runner Up
Putting together a stunning tablescape is easier than you think. You can set any holiday table for six (or eight) guests using three matching table runners instead of placemats. For Chanukah I suggest two blue and one silver or white runner. Place the three runners (silver or white in the center) width-wise from left to right across your table, and space them evenly apart. This gives each person a “placemat” for their tableware. If you need two more seats at the head and foot of the table, dress these two settings with single placemats that match or coordinate with the runners for a uniform look and seating for eight.
A Gift a Guest
Decorate in between each placemat with a silver box that is wrapped in blue ribbon. The box can contain a mini crystal Dreidel, Chanukah Gelt (gold-covered chocolate money) or whatever you wish.
Match the Menorah
Your centerpiece can be a gorgeous silver menorah with white and blue candles. I would also suggest silver flatware and white dishes with silver edging detail. Crystal glasses will add an elegant touch.Function First
A well-designed Chanukah table has several goals; accomplish these and your event will be one to remember:
- It allows for maximum room between place settings.
- It gives your table a well-planned, continuous and elegant appeal.
- It visually connects people across from one another, allowing for easy communication.
- It will get people at the table talking, which is a great way to break the ice and make way for an enchanting evening.
